DAS Searches Now Free
1 July 2011

As of 1 July 2011 searches in the Debt Arrangement Scheme Register are now free. Up to that date searches could only be carried out on payment of a fee and with a login. In addition to removal of the fee there is also no need for secure login details. AMA paid for access on an annual basis and supplied clients with this service at no cost as an added value service. Clients can now carry out searches as required but AMA will still provide that service as before if required.

This was one of a number of changes to the Debt Arrangement Scheme. Prior to these becoming operational there had already been an increase in the number of Debt Payment Programmes approved. There was a 35% increase in DPPs in the first quarter of 2011/12 as compared to the previous quarter and a 30% increase against the same quarter in 2010/11. In comparison to personal insolvencies the numbers of DPPs are still relatively small with 643 being granted in the first quarter of 2011/12.
